F3: Canon EF Glass on F3?

I've used a simple dumb adapter without any electronics, presetting aperture on a Canon DSLR before mounting the lens on the F3, and it worked great. I don't know what brand it was, sorry, but dumb adapters are pretty straightforward. So long as the dimensions are correct, most any adapter should work fine.

Optitek just come out with iris and focus control adapter. There's a youtube video showing it work, looks slick indeed.

I have to MTF adapter and box and it works fine but the box is a thing I would like to do without. Actually got a set of Samyang lenses with EF mount to use my F3 without the box as much as I can.

Here you go- the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJrgfYLhVpk
As a bonus we made the EF mount on camera to turn unmodified Canon lenses into PL lenses instantly.
The mount features positive locking.
Also it can be used without the EFF (electronic follow focus) if you just need iris control :)

Hi Optitek,

Where can I purchase the Canon mount? It looks like exactly what I need.

Thank you,
~Omar

I was waiting for the "smart" option of EOS mount for F3 since I got the camera almost 2 years ago... Helplessly waiting for Birger for the longest time as they were "announcing" the only acceptable option for me: just a single piece adapter, powered (in latest "prototype") internally from the camera. No additional boxes, wires, follow focus units, etc... By now, we all know where that ended... Birger is bust with this product!
i could not wait any longer... Moved on, sold my Canon primes... I can live with out them. Found other options...

Hi Optitek,

What is the price for just the iris control unit that adapts the lens to the camera body? Also, does it provide image stabilization for lenses that have that feature?

Thanks again,
~Omar

yes you do need to power it . Accepts voltage 7-17v so you can use everything from DSLR battery to a brick.

Very little.
The load during focus pulls depends on the lens. The bigger the lens the stronger, more energy hungry motors.
But just think how long the batteries last on DSLR. These lens motors must be extremely efficient :)
On standby the power draw is under 2W

I'd like to be clear on the crop/magnification issue. It seems that all of the other adapters introduce a 1.5x, which I suppose is since the lens has to be moved so far away from the sensor.
So, if I put a particular lens on the F3 with this adapter, it will have appx. the same field-of-view as if it were on a native-mount camera like a 5D, 6D, C100/300?

Thanks.
