I'm currently studying in Television & working on Promotional video's/Videoclips/Commercials & I'm seriously thinking of buying a Canon XLH1-A. But the Canon 5D is making me think otherwise. I don't mind paying the price, but if the 5D is better, I wouldn't mind saving a couple grand. Up's & Down's, personal preference, anything that could help me out! Thank you!

The 5D will not be "better." That depends on what you need the camera to do. In some ways it's better, in many other ways, it's so far behind the camcorder that it can't even compare. So what's most important to you? And is that worth a hefty price premium?
Why not also consider the 7D and the GH1, which are much cheaper?
