Hello all,

I just recently purchased a Canon 7D, and have been out in the wild taking pictures and video. No i am wanting to edit my work...I have got the picture side down but the issue I am having is loading the Raw Footage from my Canon 7D into After Effects CS4...

I am not sure what the issue is....I pull the file from the camera, for instance onto my desktop. Then I open it with AE and it won't load...do i not have the proper plugin, or is another way to do what I am trying to do? I am an long time user of Adobe Premiere and After Effects, and the main camera I use is a Canon XH-A1, however the Canon 7D is new to me!

Help! because i Have some great footage I would love to slow down and edit!!!

Thanks,
DWHJR

As far as I know, you can put Canon footage into AE, it's not a proprietary format.

That said, after hours of Canon edits, I've never actually done that; I batch convert to ProRes with MPEG Streamclip - or if I want every last bit of detail, 5DtoRGB.

Canon footage isn't really an edit-friendly format; on a Mac, ProRes is pretty amazing for how well it compresses, how seamlessly it edits, and how many generations you can go with it. For a PC, find a way to convert to a nice native format. Should be about 1,000 google hits for that subject.
