Canon 7D and FCP, please help!!!

Hi guys,

I just got a Canon 7D and I am trying to edit some stuff using FCP.

The thing is my version of FCP is 5.1.4, no money for upgrade. So I am not able to use ProRes nor FCP eos plug in.

My OS is 10.5.8, so again not able to use FCP eos plug in.

I have the MPEG Streamclip, which it looks nice but again, I can't use the ProRes codec. I read I can convert it to Apple XDCAM, but the only codecs I have available for this are HD, not EX in both the MPEG Streamclip and FCP. I did tried using HD but when dropping to FCP timeline I have to render the whole thing.

Can you guys help me with more options? I have no idea what to do, I am not a FCP savvy so I am really stuck. I did search and read a lot but haven't found options in my case.

Thanks in advance and please give me a hand in this matter.

Cheers,

Camilo

No ProRes in my computer. Don't know where to download it.

Is there any other format I can convert my 7D footage?

HDV is way compressed- don't use if you don't have to. DVCPROHD is ok but AIC would be better. That or cough up the $299 (assuming you have a legit/registered version of FCS) and get the upgrade to the current version.
