SOLD
I bought this lens from a photographer friend of mine a few years ago to use with my 7d shooting video. At the time of purchase there was a small mark in the front glass. He claimed it never affected his shooting and that was proven true in the years of shooting video since I have purchased it. I never saw it in the footage and never had any crazy lens flares because of it.
Recently it was lent out to a friend for a photo shoot and when returned it no longer seemed "happy" when pulling focus. It seems as if there is an internal gear that isn't grabbing hold of the lens when you turn the barrel. I will be pulling focus just fine and then all of the sudden I am pulling but the focus isn't changing. Reversing the direction and then back again usually fixes this but it is not a consistent problem. I have had it work just fine some days, and others it has acted up. The same issue happens in autofocus mode. I have still been shooting interviews with it in manual mode and have not had any problems since I am setting focus and letting it stay there.
I have talked to a few repair shops and they have all said it was fixable but never giving me an exact quote.
It seems it is time to let this workhorse go and I figured there might be someone on here that can put it to good use in its current state or possibly fix and use it like normal.
I have been told it could be anywhere from $200-400 to repair the focus on the lens and i know what they go for in normal condition so I am going to put a number out there as my asking price but am completely open to offers. The lens comes with both caps, tripod collar, hood, box and lens bag with strap.
Asking $375 shipped and insured anywhere in the US OBO. I will ship internationally, just let me know where you need it to go and I will get a price.
