Canon 70-200mm F2.8 IS L

Hey guys,

I'm going to be attending a professional hockey game and I'm thinking about renting this lens for the day. Would anyone recommend it for some nice sport shots? I have the 5DMII. If anyone has any other recommendations, here's a list of the available lenses I can rent.

I looked a few of these and the deposits are more then what the lens cost like for example 50mm 1.4

The 70-200 2.8. L IS II is a beautiful lens and the IS is HUGE!

Where will your seats be located? That will likely determine how much length you need.

14 rows up, but I plan on getting a lot of shots during warmups where the guys from Getty Images will be - they're always good about letting you slip in where the glass is cut out and snapping a few shots.

I think this lens is fine, but if you do rent it, I'd suggest you rent a 2x extender as well.

The non-IS version of this lens will likely work equally well in this case, and may save you quite a few $$, if you can keep a high shutter speed. With the money saved, rent a 16-35/f2.8 as well. You'll need it for wide shots.
