Hi guys,
I was curious about the high ISO performance everybody is raving about on the 5Dmk2 went out and shot something at ISO 3200!!
unbelievable, this camera, love it!
please let me know what you think and thanks again for the great response on the Grand Central video.

haha, sorry mhill310 - I was too, certainly did not want to spend the $$$ but honestly the more i use the 5d, the more I like it. but today I just shot with the D90 again, very nice - hope nikon gives us the manual mode soon

3200 iso is not much of a torture for 5D2's sensor... Shoot at H1 and 1.4, then we're crossing into the territory of capturing scenes not used to be seen with our own eyes..

yeah it's amazing. I didn't expect so much of a low noise/high ISO improvement over the D90. I was thinking would something like a tele extender help with your full frame lens baby problem? or just cropping the frame to 720p.

now canon just needs to save us the trouble of doing 24p in post.

boogerg2, coming from photography, I know that. I also shoot w the d700 and d3, beyond 3200 but raw files (and now the 5D of course), that's a different story, the video we are getting for now is baked as far as i am concerned no matter what codec they give us it is just a form of a moving jpegs, until we get raw video, then all will be good again, except our computers

thanks squig, na to many parts I like it simple I will figure the lensbay thing out eventually shot enough with it, taking a brake

I know Mike.. it's just that I have nothing interesting to film here.. and I would love someone to go out and torture test the 5D2 by filming a movie clip using H1 and large aperture to capture a scene that us with our naked eye do not usually see... almost night vision like.. but in full HD and grainy color..

Our tolerance to noise is lower with moving images, because the grain keeps moving. With stills we can go higher and just feel it as "texture"...

disagree.. haven't you ever taken still frames from a poorly quality video and realized just how crappy that still frame looked? 30 frames / sec, and the random noises appear for only 1 frame. The end result is an averaged layer of noise. For still frame, the noise/grain is static and it is always visible. Any patterning in the noise will also be apparent in a still frame.

Maybe it doesn't apply to digital, since the noise is just horrible either way. But I certainly can live with more film grain in photos than in motion picture.

It could be just me though...
