Canon 5DII have a metal or plastic body? for $1,300?

I am so totally confused. I recently did a search on 5DII prices and I saw that bingocameras.com is selling the canon 5DII for only $1,289 and then I look at all other websites and they sell the camera for no less then $2,400 (a thousand dollar difference!!!). So to clear this up I called Bingo Cameras and asked them why they were selling this camera for such a low price and they told me that it was the overseas version and it was a plastic body as opposed to a metal body. After talking to this guy it got me thinking because if what this guy was telling was true I could easily get scammed if I buy from a regular website, say Broadway photo for about $2,400 and they end up giving me this plastic body that I have been hearing about. Anyways is this website telling me the truth, is this why bingocameras.com is selling the camera for such a low price? The link is below so you guys can take a look at it:

If they don't sell this camera in a plastic body or if it is sold everywhere in a plastic body, would this be a good website to get a deal from? Or should I be cautious?

The 5DII has a cast magnesium alloy body. Any plastic is just trimming. Don't let anyone tell you different. The bloke sounds dodgy to me. Just my opinion you understand

HAHA thanks everyone:dankk2:, I know I can trust all you guys!! BTW the customer service guy was totally rude and impatient. Ha I guess you get what you pay for!

I'm going to go way out on a limb and say that Canon in no way shape or form makes a plastic bodied 5DII.

Yeah bingocameras.com is definitely a scam. I called the customer service guy again and he hung up and me, and then I called yet another time and he yelled at me and said "Are you going to buy the F***ing camera or not!" I was like "Wow is this a joke or something?". I could not believe this guy Someone one definitely needs to report this company for fraud, I have read all of the reviews and they all sound the same: SCAM!

Keep calling him and ask a ton of techincal questions like you're interested. Waste his whole day. :-)

HAHA I already tried that but he just will hang up on you. Seriously go to their website and try that. he just gets pissed and swears at you or says something rude its so funny.

I love when people try to get something for nothing. That's the only reason there still are people trying to work this scam, because there is a significant percentage of suckers out there who will fall for it. They must make money pulling the scam or why would they waste the time, money, effort and possible prosecution to keep advertising these ridiculous prices?

This is a scam all the way. The sales person, who contacted me via telephone, told me that the HD camera I ordered did not capture in HD. I needed to upgrade the lens for an additional $1000.00. Wow, an HD camera that doesn't shoot in HD... who would of thought... Please be careful - if you gave your CC number call your credit card company!!!!

I think EVERYONE on this board (or at least everyone who reads this thread) should call and give them a few choice words. It doesn't take too much time out of your schedule, but the impact of EVERYONE calling (especially on the same day) will sure save all of us in the long run.

dvxuser has been nothing but valuable info for me (since joining) and the other day I realized how much it could impact the small things:

"Digigenic" posted Best Buy had 5D Mark II's with a $200 rebate, at least 3 people caught the thread and bought - that post alone saved dvxuser members $600, and this thread probably saved "tackleqb" his $1300+.

Only 2 threads = $1,900 in savings for dvxuser members! It doesn't matter who's pocket it goes in, or comes out of - If we're all sharing info and buying and selling to/from each other...

IT AFFECTS US ALL.

Actually, after years of off and on reading this forum (since very early hvx rumors. probably found site via HD4indies), I finally made a purchase (my Red reservation that ended up w/ a friend doesn't count. dang)... and here's how much dvxuser saved me:

1st - helped determine 5D Mii was best for my current plans (vs GH1)

2nd - MONEY.
Best Buy $200 off got me looking seriously at Best Buy, since I wanted to take advantage of No Interest 18 mos., which turned into 10% off (thanks to DVX & Cinema5d posts), and no sales tax (thanks to another DVX post about TX sales tax exemption, which is pretty broad & easy in TX).

So my 5D MarkII was 2,429.99 out the door, with no interest for 18 months. Holy crap, can't beat it (and with lens & accessories, my $4000 purchase = $4000 still in my 4% interest checking account... almost like I'm making money on this purchase!)

They were also flexible with pricematching (or close) to online stores given the total purchase amount.

18 Months No Interest storewide expired this weekend, but will supposedly be back occasionally for specific departments (ie cameras one time, TVs another time).

http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=1349357 10% off coupon. Technically limited to "in-stock" or in-store items, but they scanned it and it applied to my camera which was in-stock in warehouse, but not in the store.

So the point is... by research in the forums, I didn't have to look for a "$1300" scam.

That place is a crack-up! They're offering the Canon 5D Mark II WITH the Canon 12-24mm lens for $1,479. Hmmm... seems they don't even know their lenses because the 12-24 is for Canon's APS lenses to be used on their cameras with the 1.6x crop factor. The 5D II is full-frame. Doh!

Plus they're offering the Canon 5D Mark II 'package' WITH two lenses for only $1,389? Hello? I'll buy 500 hundred of those, please. That's not even a scam, that's hilarious! I wonder if it's really an SNL skit or something, or one of those candid "gotcha" TV programs? "The camera is only $1,139, but it doesn't include the sensor or any internal mechanisms whatsoever, those are all sold separately. Camera ships with a 50lb bag of sand, check delivery prices in your area, postage can exceed your mortgage."
