Canon 5D3 firmware Clean HDMI problem

Guys...apologies if this has been asked/mentioned before.

I upgraded to the 121 firmware upgrade.I

I then hooked it up to my LCD with a mini HDMI to HDMI.
II tested it and got a box around the picture with the focus box on the screen...no clean full HDMI.

Then when I switched from
HDMI output + LCD - No Mirroring
to
HDMI output + LCD - Mirroring

Theere was a black screen.....

Am I missing something here?

Thanks for all the indepth replies guys.

UPDATE: Had the camera off for a few hours....switched it back on and voila the full HDMI out now works.

Do not know why it didn't before.
