Canon 5d Mk III bought but potential issue

Hi guys,

I've purchased a 5D III from ebay which arrived today but it seems to have a slight issue with one of the buttons, I think it's called the "nipple".

It has a rubber seal around it but it's partially come away and you can see the body underneath. Would this likely affect weather sealing? I'm not planning on shooting in rain but it's nice to know I could if I wanted to but this has me worried.

Thanks for looking,

Dan

That'll effect the weather sealing if you plan on actually shooting the thing in heavy rain (does anyone really do that I wonder?).

Has the seal actually ripped or has part of it just come out? It looks like you could probably just reseat the rim of the seal by poking it back inside with a blunt instrument?

The joystick is not used very much outside of picking your autofocus point during certain stypes of still work. So this is something you could probably live with very easily if the functionality is suspect. (unless you ned to change your autofocus points a lot)...

badly assembled

if it's under warranty, send it to Canon for repair (they may argue that you opened it, make sure )

I don't know how the 5D3 is on the inside, but on most DSLRs the button assembly is really complicated, it can take you hours to fix this yourself.

I tried poking it back in but looks like the previous owner also tried this as they've scratch the joystick. The joystick also is very stiff and rarely am I able to select down. I bought from ebay and it was described as perfect working order. It does amaze me how people are clearly blind or trying it on. Getting a full refund so all is well.

Thanks for the replies.

Dan
