[FS: General] Canon 5D MIII + Grip + Canon 24-70 II Lens Package deal

Sorry to hear that, I knew it was a fraud when he told me I could call him if I wanted. The I asked for his # and gave him mine but then he stopped responding to me for the day and contacted me back a day later and acted like I never emailed him 10 times about talking on the phone. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck.....

i am very sorry for the gentlemen who was scammed. I too wish all of the comments would have been left untouched. I agree that is the BEST method to avoiding scams on forums. That's how we do on Reduser ;)

j hope David is happy now knowing that he could've helped save guys some money but didn't

That sort of commentary is not only unhelpful, but unwelcomed, and completely disrespectful to the people who spend their time and energy for free to keep this site up and running.
David does the absolute best he can, and he does it on his own time.

We ask that all buyers proceed with caution, and use established and trustworthy forms of payment in order to minimize their risk - but there is nothing we can do (short of shutting the marketplace down) to alleviate fraud 100%.

We have never claimed to be perfect - but the times that we have had a problem on here we have always gone above and beyond in doing what we can to help members.
And this case is no different.

If anyone has anything else to say about this, please PM me directly.
Thank you.

And for future reference - if you ever see or hear of something that you feel is a 'red flag' in the marketplace, the absolute best course of action to take is to report the thread or PM, not posting in the thread.
When you report a post or PM it alerts all the moderators of the site of a potential problem.

With so many posts on this site it is impossible for us to see every single one.
We do our best, but there is simply no way to see them all.

Report threads, posts or PMs and it will bring potential problems to our attention before they get to this point (hopefully).

I understand what you are saying Luis, about reporting it, but if David deleted multiple comments to be on alert about this guy, shouldn't that have been enough a red flag to send caution to some other mods? I know Modding a site as big as this can't be easy and to determine if someone is a scammer is pretty freakin hard, so we can't blame David for this. The buyers should have been on the lookout. He was selling roughly $7000 worth of gear for $4000. When they say it's too good to be true, it usually is. I wanted another mark 3 but decided against this transaction since I saw some of the negative traffic on here before it got deleted.

I too had a bit of problem with all those comments deleted and I did express it in a post. Later David PMed me to explain what our market place rules are and he deleted my post, which I was okay with. I guess what I like to say is, like swanny said, David should not be blamed for this. It's not his responsibility to sway/warn buyers from a scammer. When we come to an open online market place like this, each member has to make the best judgement for them, their items, and their money.

A quick question to Luis Caffesse, I see report post button, but I don't know how to report a thread. And if there are multiple reports on a post or a thread, are there a visible indication? Will a user see and know if a thread has been reported?

Will a user see and know if a thread has been reported?

David covered all the other questions - but just wanted to make sure I answered this one too.

No.
Reported posts are not seen on the site in any way and the users are not notified at all.
The moderators will see who reported the post, but that information is not shared with any other members.
