Aloha all, just wanted to post a little footage from Jaws the other day...These waves are insanely huge and I have so much respect for the surfers that have the guts to do this as well as the jet ski operators that are tremendously talented in their own right, many of them big wave riders as well..

Anyhow, I live a couple of miles from Jaws on W.Kuiaha in a little town called Haiku. At night I can hear these monsters breaking, they sound like thunder...

Tech :
Canon 5D Mark II
Canon 70-300 USM @ 300mm
Zoom H4n & Redhead windscreen for faint ocean sounds
Premiere CS4

I was talking to some friends on the phone a couple weeks ago who also live in Haiku (Hamana is the street they live on), they said they could feel the ground shake like an earth quake everytime the waves came in.

Small world & nice video!

What months are the best time to see Jaws in action? If you could have ANY lens to shoot the 5DMKII at Jaws, what would you use? I am heading back for a while, and want to shoot similar views. thanks,

hey for more of jaws at 70ft check out my trailer for my new surf flick AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 WAVES www.80waves.com I was a jetski lifeguard before i took on the full time film gig.

I am supriesed you get such smooth slow-mo with the 5D shooting at 30p. When I try 50% in Final Cut it doesn`t look that smooth.
