Hey, what are the best settings for the 5D III ML RAW, is it 1920*1080p? Or do you recommend something else? Thanks! Other settings/tips that may influence the image please tell me :)

I'd be interested to learn more about 5DIII Raw too.

I just bought a 5DIII, it arrives tomorrow. But I have full day shoots scheduled Friday and Saturday, plus all of the processing afterwards. So it will be a while before I get to play. :(

I only have one SanDisk Extreme Pro 64 GB CF card right now, but that should get me started. I just checked Amazon, the Komputerbay 128 GB CF cards are about $85, vs $133 for the Lexar 1066x 128 GB.

So I'm off to re-read older threads here about ML and Raw on the 5DIII. :)

The biggest challenge is data management and post-processing. I have yet to find the best workflow. You can load the DNG files directly into Premiere Pro, but it makes my rMBP cry bitter tears.

KomputerBay 256GB (1066x or 1200x) cards will each get you about 45 minutes of recording time when shooting raw. They allow for continuous 1080P, no problem.

As for best settings, the builds for firmware 1.13 is a bit faster and more stable, but the builds for firmware 1.23 allow mirroring when connected a monitor. Only load the modules that you really need.

Everything in the menus is clearly marked. Turn on every option you think you need and see if you can record continuously. If not, start turning off options one by one until you can record continuously (disable Global Draw altogether and reduce resolution if you have slower cards). LV Digic Peaking (slightly sharper) is more useful than regular peaking in my experience.

For post processing, use MLVFS to load the MLVs in Resolve. Apply LOG or a LUT (I use CineLog) to the entire project and tweak color balance and exposure. Export ProRes 4444 or HQ and work with that footage as you normally would.

The cards say you need to use a udma7 reader otherwise they might break. Any experiences with that as i do not have a udma 7 reader but some cheap 10€ reader.

Thanks
