Canon 5d general and 30p to 24p questions...

I am not as proficient with the 5D as I would like as I mainly work with film, and there is a possibility of it being used for a project I am shooting.

Firstly, I am not a big fan of 30p imagery, how difficult is the conversion from 30p to 24?
Does the conversion from 30p look like something shot 24 native or not?
And what is the exact process involved?
What are the noticeable artifacts if any or any other issues?

Possibility of a 35mm blow up you see...

Also, what issues have people been having when using zooms? In this case may be using a 16-35mm Canon Zoom and a Canon 24-270 Zoom Lens.

I know shooting 30p then going to a 25/24 35mm blow up seems a little crazy but don't ask...

Depending on your shot you can do a conform - mild slomo 30/24

instant conversion, no artifacts - sound problems and of course a little slow and dreamy

30p->/25p

Or there is a real conversion
FCP - optical flow - takes ages, works ok you get some ghosting on movement

Eg.. My reel

Also there is a funked up method I invented

Manual Frame deletion - picking simillar frames and deleting them - meaning mild temporal changes with less artifacts

I also mix that with some manual frame blending in Photoshop

If you have a film post budget the third is possible for problem clips - else highly non cost effective

Use all three and you will be OK

Or use a 1Ds4, or 7d

How about the quickest way to change 30p to 29.97. Edited in 30p, converted in shake. One minute footage @ 30p now = 1 min, 14 secs = FAIL.

Is this the rig you're using:
Pilot
Nice steadicam work.

Some of my work is handheld the 'paparazzi video' -

My Reel - some is blackbird stabiliser (car sequence) and the opening three frames of my reel are with a pilot indeed (funny girl sequence)

The pilot is great but because Im often shooting live/doco unassisted I dont have time to put the vest on and use the Blackbird handheld

Mainly I use my Pilot with a Sony EX1 for Deep and Auto Focus - not with a DSLR

Will it extend the footage like it did with shake? Cause that was just a complete failure. I still want it to be one minute.

Cinema Tools simply alters the playback rate of the QuickTime file. It does not alter the footage in any way.
