I am putting together my dp and directors reel and wanted to get some feed back. for now it mostly serves as a dp reel but will be adding 2 full scenes at the end over the next couple of days. Most of the footage is comprised of canon 5d markII.

Cool Man. You've got some really nice stuff there!!! My only note would be to lose a bit of the black and white stuff at the start. I just don't think it's on the same level as the other stuff. Just my opinion obviously :) LOVED those dark shots with the blue lighting!! Keep it up. Have you thought about vimeo as opposed to youtube. I think they do a better job of vid compression!!

thanks for taking a look. vimeo makes you wait a while if you don't have the plus membership.

dang! good stuff. loved it. DO you shoot flat then grade? Cinestyle (though recent) or neutral dialed down ect?

I shoot neutral with contrast dialed all the way down and color minus 3 notches. and try and light scenes whether inside or out. I'm finding lighting helps with the final grading.

Great stuff, really strong start. I would say to cut maybe 30 seconds if you can, in general the shorter a reel the better, in my research and experience most people either get bored or stop watching altogether around the 1:30 to 2:00 mark. I agree that you might lose some of the B&W stuff, and maybe some of the shots between :45 and :57. In general I wouldn't hesitate to show that to anyone, great material. And definitely make a separate directing reel if you have enough footage.

Cool, thanks Bob. Yea I was debating on if I should mix them, but think I will take your advice and and seperate them as well as trim the footage. I have plenty of footage and scenes to my projects to make a separate director reel so I will do that. Thanks again for the input.
