EOS: Canon 550d / T2i and Magic Lantern HDMI Output size while recording????

Hi all,

Does anyone know if Magic Lantern will help with the output size of HDMI for monitoring? When I output from my 550d/t2i to my lilliput 668gl-70np (YES I'm cheap) it looks great and is fantastic for framing/pulling focus etc but the moment I hit record the signal changes to 720x480 (as far as I have learned) making the image while recording look soft when it's blown up to fit the screen, this means that if I wanted to refocus during a shot I would be guessing a fair bit. Does anyone know if Magic Lantern offers a fix?

Thanks

Tom

EDIT: Just realised I posted this in the full frame forum, can a mod please move to the APSC forum.

Actually this isn't about recording to an external device it's about just getting a full Hd image on a monitor whilst recording.

"When the camera is recording, HDMI output resolution is limited to only 720x480 (effective image resolution is 640x388, which represents a stretched 3:2 frame)."

Edit:

There a possibility to record to external HDMI recorder while the camera is not recording, with some limitations:
“While these devices are capable of recording 1080p 422 signals, the HDMI output from the Canon HDMI is limited to 1620x1080 (3:2) while the camera is not recording. This requires the user to crop the footage from the external recorder to 1620x910 (16:9) and then resize it to either 1280x720 (79%) or 1920x1080 (119%).”

Hello from the future. Yeah, I wouldn't kid yourself with the 720i video. There are instances when doing live events I'm discovering that could be worked around for the video. Better to have 720i video with no jumpcuts than to have 12 minute 1080p video clips with a bunch of it.
