canon 50mm 1.2 lens

So I've set my eyes on a sigma 50mm 1.2 as being the first lens I buy for my hmc150p, but first I need a lens adapter, and think I'll be going with a Letus35 Extreme unless convinced otherwise.

Very new to this, so I'm just wondering about what exactly I would need to purchase. I'm assuming I would need the Canon EF mount because matching names makes sense, but I'm not sure about the thread size.

Kind of confused more actually, and that didn't answer which thread size I would need.

Would I need to remove the built-in zoom lens the camera comes with? When I mounted a wide angle lens to my camera I just screw it in on top of the one that was already there, so was that wrong? How would I remove the built-in lens - I can't seem to find the answer to that anywhere, which tells me that this is something that shouldn't be done.

I'm liking the this camera more and more with every project, but this lens needs an 'upgrade.'

You can't remove the zoom lens from a HMC150. If you want to use a DOF adapter, you just screw it on like you would a filter. The thread size is 72 mm.

EF lenses can't manually adjust the aperture. You might want to take a look at Redrock adapters. I believe the have a model that can control EF lens' aperture.

Whatever you do, do not try to remove the stock lens from the HMC150! It's not an interchangable lens camera, and treating it as one is an excellent way to void your warranty!

For less money than the Letus you could buy a Canon T2i and use it for selected shots where you need shallow DoF.

If you do go for the Letus35 then I suggest you do alot more research on how exactly 35mm adaptors work. Chances are you'll need rails some rails too for support (more $$$). You'll also want to read about using these in real life scenarios because they are a whole extra level of difficulty!

With the new DSLRS, I think we'll see a lot of people getting rid of their Red rock and Letus adapters. I've got an HMC150 as my A camera and a Canon 7D as my B camera, each one has strengths and weaknesses. Like Deltoidjohn sez, save your money and buy a T2i

I use a Brevis and a selection of Canon and Nikon lenses. I also use a GH1 with a Nikon adapter. I think if you have an HMC150 and want that "look" for some of your work, there are good deals to be had in the Marketplace from fellow users for reasonable bucks. With the new AF100 coming at the end of this year or more than likely in early next year and who knows what Jannard and the Red Gang might do and then there is Sony...
In otherwords, buy what you need to work with now. If you are in the game for the long run then expect that technology will be updated. The T2i might be the Cats meow this month....but who knows next month. Make films, make a living with what you have, don't get caught up in the technology race. I know people who have been waiting for Scarlett for two years....they write in the groups often...but do they shoot and I say this with no malice to anyone writing in this thread where for the most part all the advice given is sound.
