canon 50 mm f1.4 not focusing

My lens stopped focusing, the ring moves, but the focus doesn't change at all. I can see it not moving where it tells you the distances. I need to shoot with this next week and am taking it to a camera shop tomorrow. Does anyone know how long it takes to fix it?
 
I have personally seen this happen with this lens every now and again. From my understanding, it's an inner barrel that tends to get warped and causes the lens to stop focusing both manually and automatically. The ring will move but the barrel sticks. Something like this. Once that inner piece is replaced I think that generally clears up the issue. I had the same thing happen to a used lens I had. I've avoided setting the lens down on the front element or compressing the lens unnecessarily as well.
