im interested if its pretty cheap.

What makes L glass so dreamy?

The build quality is better than "standard" Canon glass. L glass always has constant aperture throughout the zoom range. L glass is significantly sharper near the edges of the frame than standard glass and you get really nice bokeh for a cinematic look.

In general they are made better and produce better images than standard Canon lenses. They also hold their value very well.

This 24-105 has the "good" Image Stabilization system allowing for more usable handheld/ lightly stabilized shots.

@inyourface asked for a couple of stills at 24 and 36mm. I thought I would go one better and demonstrate the lens on my 7D with a short video.

The shots are at 24 and 35/6 at ISO 1600. 4 overhead lights. I couldn't get an older actor- so my three year old stood in for my camera shy wife. You can get an idea of how the lens looks indoors without much light and you can also get a feel for the bokeh level.
