Canon 16-35mm vs Olympus 14-35mm

I have a Canon 5DII as a Second Body. I have a Canon 16-35mm F2.8 which sometimes I use on the AF100 with an adapter, I had read so many good things about the 14-35mm that make me wonder if will be a Huge improvement in IQ over the Canon, any experience wold be apreciated Thanks

Check the thread a few down about the 14-35... If your Canon provides smooth iris transition, I'd hang on to it and keep the cash... What adapter are you using with the 16-35? I need a good lens that isn't a Nikkor (focusing direction is a problem, not optics).

There currently isn't anything that allows for use of the canon lens aperture. Birger has been delayed again so that will be the only eventual game in town if it ever makes it.

Apparently the EOS adapter for Micro Four Thirds from RedRock come sooner than Birger but only with management and confirmation of the aperture.

The lens situation for the AF100 continues to be problematic. As someone who has invested in Canon glass as a result of buying a Canon 7D, I'm getting more and more annoyed at the idea that I have a great set of glass and a great camera upgrade option in the AF100 but I can't pair the two things together because I'm missing one tiny piece of gear that comes for every OTHER lens type except the one I have. I wish Panasonic could help out the situation in anyway.

Funny.

You buy a Canon system from a competitor to Panasonic and you want Pansonic to help out your situation.

:-)

Just like with the 5DII before aperture control was added through firmware, it's on Canon for making lenses without mechanical aperture control. In the months it took for the firmware to come out, I bet they lost thousands if not more in lens sales, and I mean lenses, not dollars... and it's on you (and me) for buying Canon lenses (which I love), and an AF100 (which I also love).
