Cannot Achieve Solomo with 50P video in 25P timeline

Hello Everyone,

I am working on a project that is 25P. The video format is from HVX200 that is imported into vegas with raylight proxies. We have some shots a 50P which is also converted by raylight, but when I import that in and put it in the timeline of the project that is set to 25P, it doesn't slow down and still plays in its original frame rate. I am not sure what I am doing wrong, I even tried to remove extra frames in raylight conversion, I still can't achieve slomo,

Cheers

that happens to me as well, just try to do a normal slow motion like you would any other time (ctrl + mouse drag)

Just right-click your 50fps clip and tell it to use a playback rate of 50% speed.

Just so I am clear on this -
I have some 720p/60 footage.
I open Vegas with my default project which is at 24 fps.
I import the 720p/60 footage into my project and it plays at normal speed.
I right click my video clip and set Properties > Playback Rate to 0.4
It plays back in slow-mo (Nice!)

Is this the best way to achieve slow mo from a higher frame rate?

David i thought the rule was if 60p to 24p with slow motion involved the project property needed to stay at 59.9p.if no slow motion involved in conversion, than the project property stays at 23.97p , correct?

If you want a 24p project you need to have your timeline at 24p. If you want a 60p project you need your timeline at 60p

You are not going to get (good) slow motion from a 60p clip in a 60p timeline because the playback speed and clip frame rate are the same and that would give you real time playback.

The technique I outlined certainly works (thanks for the confirmation, David) - it just seemed too easy. I'm no expert but I read about other apps and they seem to have a harder time dealing with this... so I just thought it was too good to be true.

Vegas may not be the prettiest, but it sure is powerful.

William, project properties and the timeline are 2 different things , correct me if im wrong..dont you need 60p project settings and a clip in a 24p timeline to get the best slow motion?
