Candy Rape: A Halloween short!

Umm,.. how does one respond to this? I have to say that as for content, this is not MY sort of thing. I get the impression you were going for laughs, ..but,..hmmm. But hey, maybe that's just me. My only real bit of constructive criticism would be to watch your character placements. The husband and wife characters who stood at the door kept changing sides when you would cut from in front of them to OTS behind them. The wife was on the husband's right when we were looking at them from outside the house (front on), but when you cut behind them looking OTS out the front door, the wife was on the husband's left. Just something to keep an eye on.

The problem here is the film is actually so politically incorrect and no one wants to admit laughing at it. Rape = not funny. Although when the guy pops up at the door doing this ultra-gay routine I did bust out laughing because between that and the title I automatically knew it was going to be something silly. But to be blunt it simply isn't the time period for this kind of humor. Just too much happening in the world and too many assholes still breathing to be really funny.

Very over the top and the actors never broke character by "winking" at the camera. That's a good thing. you kept the uneasiness going and going.

Are you a fan of Todd Solandz? This reminded me a little of his approach to comedy which I love because it's so uncomfortable that you have to bust out laughing just to break the awkwardness of his scenes

HerzogisGod: Thanks for the feedback. I can see the connection you made to Solandz. I'm a big fan of Happiness, even though it can be really tough to watch sometimes. Although I did not write Candy Rape, I helped create the story, specifically the "rape" backstory. And though I love exploring taboo issues, I realize it's not for everyone.

Also the fact he kept coming back the way he did reminded me of the old "Landshark" bit from SNL back in the seventies (or maybe eighties).
