Can you mount large mics to the 5D?

Hey,

I'm going to get an Edirol R-44 soon so I can record 4 channels at once - 2 w/G2's and 2 from a Rode NT4 I've got (stereo condensor mics).

I was just thinking, if I put the r44, in it's case, around my neck, can I mount the NT4 on the 5D and plug it into the r44. The cable I can just run through my belt or something and it should keep pretty steady.

Or will it make the whole thing too heavy?

It would be unwieldy and would completely defeat the purpose of investing in all this sound equipment. If you want good sound, get a boom op. If you don't want good sound, sure, go for it.
