GH4 Can you monitor the anamorphic squished image out of the HDMI?

I tried and I got a pop up message saying anamorphic was engaged. Wasn't sure if it's cause my monitor can't monitor the unsquished image. Anyone else monitor the anamorphic with the 2.2 firmware updates?

Good news for monitoring:Turn off "Info Display" under HDMI Rec Output.
Bad news for recording :( (It turns off)

Feed the anamorphic image into an Odyssey7Q+ and it can be desqueezed for viewing as well as recorded in Apple ProRes. The desqueezing is not recorded (you get all your original pixels to work with in post) but the desqueezed image is sent to the video outputs (two SDIs and an HDMI) for viewing on any standard HD monitor.

Glad i found this thread. I use a Marshall 5" which has honestly served me well.

Having same issue I am getting 'Anamorphic (4:3) Enabled' with a black screen, then i turn info display off and can get a feed but as soon as I hit record its black again.

Pretty dirty about it to be honest, forever a little niggle like this. So hard to use a GH4 properly without a external monitor...

Need a list of monitors that will work with the 4:3 mode.

The point is to both monitor and record using the Odyssey7Q+. The signal will not output from the camera unless internal recording is disabled. So it is either ALL in the camera (internal recording and monitoring a squished skinny image on the GH4 LCD screen) or record in Apple ProRes on the Odyssey7Q+ and view a proper de-squeezed image with the added benefits of LUTs, focusing tools, exposure tools and a lovely OLED screen. Not a tough decision.

Anamorphic de-squeeze is not available in camera yet, but I have been using the smallhd DP4 for some time, might be a cheep monitoring solution, but recently I moved over to external recording where the video devices pix e5 de-squeezes the gh4 footage easily, shooting anamorphic is very tricky without de-squeeze.. Good luck in your search :)
