Hi,
after p2 1 fills p2 2 starts to record and you can swap out p2 1. Is there a away to make it jump prematurely so both my camera don't switch at the same time? I would prefer to switch one a min early so i have more time to dump to a laptop.

Thanks,
cody

No, but any modern laptop should be able to quaff a full P2 card long before the next card is ready. I get a transfer rate of over 2GB/minute on my laptop, meaning a 32GB card would be emptied in about 16 minutes, and if you're shooting 720pN you should be getting 84 minutes per card. Even if you're shooting 1080p you should still be getting 34 minutes per card of recording time, so there should still be lots of spare time in offloading.

I don't know of any way to do this. My suggestion would be to record a minute or so of black on one card and that would make it fill up before the first card on the other camera.

Thanks for the info...yea my laptop can get the data off reasonably fast, it would just be nice for both cams to end at a different time. My biggest problem is i dont have enough large cards so generally I'm swapping out with 8 gig cards and thus have less time. I'm thinking of switching to the firestone as seen in my other thread and that would solve all of this.

A simple solution is to start one camera a few minutes before the other. You end up with a few minutes of pre roll but the card will switch on its own without missing any frames. Get the first card on your laptop then go to camera two to pull that card off and the 1st card should be finished dumping. Now the cards don't fill at the same time. If you are not shooting in 24pn or 30pn then you are going to be running back and forth the whole time so you are not able to monitor picture or sound. You would be better off going the firestore route or bring someone to help with the dumping process. Keep an eye out in the Marketplace for used P2 cards bigger than 8 Gigs and that will helps out as well.

Thanks cole,
Yea I think i am gonna buy 2 or 3 fire stones. I have (3) 16gb p2 and (2) 8gb. I'm getting a 32 in the mail that i just bought so that should help things out. For shooting a lecture with 3 tripod cams the firestores will be a lot easier. I can also plugg the fires right into my desktop ediitng system skipping a second transfer step from laptop to desktop. I have done the record early before, but i just figgured there should be a button to push and make it jump from one to the other.
