Do you see it? Do you know what it is? I want to know what I should either replace or fix. In interior shots it looks fine but in outside shots I get a weird static digital noise/grain. Is it the camera? The lens? The adapter? Using HMC150 with Letus Extreme 50mm

on 0:07 look at the sky. you may need to go full screen. There's something weird static noise. It's not due to compression because it's more apparent in the edit

im posting frame 1, frame 2, and frame 3

I'd take the adapter off and try to duplicate the shot. Use a longer focal lenght and move in closer to the subject. Admire the DoF you just got.
There is no need for an adapter with the HMC 150 anyway. It just degrades the image.Do like I did. Sell the thing and buy a Mattbox and a Folow Focus with the $$$ you made. Just my 2c.

If by "static" you mean the noise isn't moving -- then you need to verify that your ground glass is spinning -- or, in your case, vibrating. Just because the lights are on doesn't always mean your adapter is doing what it should.

Next, try increasing the speed of the vibrating (I'm guessing here, I have an Ultimate, I've never worked with an Extreme).

Was your shutter speed too high for Letus Extreme specifications?

General noise reduction rules include lowering the sharpness on the HMC (do a mild unsharp mask in post if sharpness is your goal), increase the detail coring, and/or use the B.Press gamma curve setting.

Good luck! The good news is that with quality lenses and with everything set up correctly -- the HMC/Letus combination offers formidable creative options.

Ahh.. that completely solved my problem! So what do you think my shutter speed should typically be to avoid that pattern? Did some googling here's what I found out.. Tell me if this is correct

It could be because you were running a fast shutter speed or you stopped your lens past f5.6. The Letus extreme/elite cant handle a shutter over 1/60 and has a f-stop restriction of f5.6 and above or else the ground glass will become visible.

What you found sounds about right. The best thing to do is contact Letus or Letus Direct and ask them.

Truth be told -- this is exactly the issue that made me settle on the Letus Ultimate. With the Ultimate, when outside, I'm often stopped down to F16 or F22, and I've also done shutter speeds of up to 1/1000.

BUT -- those working within the limitations of the Extreme/Elite have created some magnificent works -- better than the best of anything I've ever done. The trick is to master the tools you have -- and the Letus you have with the HMC is indeed a powerful combination that offers so very many creative options.

Aggressively use your neutral density filters -- and you should be fine in almost all situations.

Good luck!
