I have some footage I shot with s-log2 and movie colors several months ago and I wanted to see if I'm doing this right.
I put the clips on the timeline, the footage usually comes in almost full range on the histogram, usually like 15-20 to 255, then the effect order I'm thinking of goes like this:
Noise reduction (optional)
Edit: <<<<<<it looks like I can soften the highlights and raise the shadows by inserting the "levels" plug-in here<<<<<
s-log2 to Rec. 709 LUT
Add color correction plug-in (s)
Add Film emulation LUT (optional)
I use Sony Vegas which also has a "Broadcast Colors" plug-in that has options for 7.5 IRE, etc.. This brings the levels to 16-235.
If the final render is for DVD or Blu-ray, should my external monitor be set to 16-235 as well? That's how I've been doing it.
