I am looking to buy this camera, but I"m researching possible workflows before I do. With the HMC, can you plug the camera directly into a hard drive to transfer the files onto?

Thank You.

As far as I know, no. You need to plug into a computer to drag and drop the media to a drive.

Or, you could take out the SD card, plug it into any standard SD card reader and drag and drop the files that way.

If you're using a self-powered USB On-The-Go hard drive, then the answer is yes, you could plug the hard drive into the camera and have the drive copy the files off for you.

But the HMC150 does not have the ability to power or control an external drive, no.

Barry Green - I haven't heard of that drive, sounds super portable. I'm going to check that out. And yes, a card reader - of course! Not sure how that slipped my mind. Thanks everyone!

How, exactly, would one do this? It makes no sense.

USB on the go is a drive that has the ability to read files from an attached device and copy them over automatically. It has intelligent electronics in it. Put the camera in USB Device mode, and then the USB On-The-Go drive will connect to that device, see all the files, and copy them over.
