Hi,

Like the 35mm converter for HVX200 and such, is there or can there be an 72mm converter for the AF100 so I can use the IMAX lenses with good result, I would so buy it if there is one.

I don't think there are any lenses made specifically for IMAX, they are are medium format still lenses, usually Hasselblad, and yes I think people have made adapters for them with appropriate sized ground glass, not sure if there are any commercial versions that you could buy. Search the diy adapter forum.

You are aware the shallow dof is not used in Imax, even though the lenses and large format is very capable of it. Most films are shot at f16 or smaller to get as much in focus as possible, usually on the format's widest lenses. selective focus on that large of a screen can induce vomit. It is about immersing the audience in the environment, larger than life, more real than real, the audience gets to decide what to look at.

It is this same argument that 3D should be shot with small chip cameras and wide lenses.

Get the adapter and use that lens for glamour close-ups, don't try for med-wide with shallow focus, it just doesn't look right.

Ok, I have seen those nature films of the Nile and such.

I'm thinking of the scene in batman the dark knight, the first scene where the joker robs the bank.
There are some sweet wide shots where the joker is in shallow focus and thats what i want.

To be able to frame something 2-3m high i shallow focus that stands out.

OK there are no imax lenses. There is 72mm films.

Is there an 72mm sensor emulator, converter that can put on the AF100? Or can't it be done?

I'm talking the exact same thing as the 35mm converter just amp the size of it to 72mm and let me put on a 50mm Hasselblad please. :)

P.S. i think that 3D should be cut in much slower pace to work its magic.

You mean the 35mm DOF adapter? I remember seeing someone post a DIY medium format adapter. I can't remember exactly where or who, but if you track him down you may be able to buy it off of him.

The only one who tried to make a 72mm adapter was Cory Easom (at least as far as I know).

I got a nice set of medium format Zeiss primes, and really wanted that adapter,
but he never made it past the prototype.

You may contact him, http://www.easom.com/ maybe he still has it, who knows?

Good lock, Frank
