It's been almost 2 years since I have my HVX200. Up till now I used it for different tests only. I knew about the P2 beep problem long time ago but always thought I did not have it, until recently.
The beep is present in both P2 slots.
If there is pure silence in the room (no computers, no fans, etc)...I CAN hear the beep with my own ears at about 3-4 METERES (more than 10 feet) away from the camera!!! No external recorder helps in this situation.
I did a test with the gain levels turned as low as possible (the knobs at the back). One of the channels barely even indicated the audio signal. The mic was Audio-Technica 4073a AT ABOUT 10-15 feet from the camera POINTED AWAY from the HVX. The beep was still recorded. The beep is there even when the internal camera mic is used!!! The beep is loud, and it is frustrating.
When I turn the speakers up in post I start hearing this beep, not always but it's there - in quiet parts.
Formatting the card does not help, changing the P2 slot does not help.
I bought the HVX from UK because in my country it was twice as expensive. Before purchasing the camera I went to the only I think local Panasonic broadcast dealer, and asked about the warranty. They told me that if I purchased the camera from another country, there will be no warranty. I don't want to deal with these people even if they offer paid repair service. My options are:
-Either I sell the camera (I don't want to do this as for more than a year I placed so many efforts working on a workflow with the HVX).
-Fix it in post.
-Fly to UK for repair and spend at about $2000 for the trip.
So, can this be easily fixed in post? Also, is this a P2 card problem only? If I changed the card, will the beep be gone? My firmware is 4.05. I doubt it, but could updating to 4.06 fix this?
Thank you!
