Can the External Display be the alternative to LiveView???

I have a question that can the External HDMI or AV display be the alternative to the LiveView.

Can we turn off the LiveView while connected to the External Display??

If that can be than there will be no sensor overheating issue.

I was asking that if the LiveView could be turned off while recording with external display....
if it can be than we can get rid of the sensor overheating due to LiveView.

Live view is not the lcd, it's the function that keeps the mirror and shutter open in order to capture a live video image. Without it there's nothing to display on your external display.

The LCD on the back of the D90 goes blank when you plug into the HDMI port with another monitor. It may make a difference in how hot the D90 gets over a day but it makes no difference in the 5 minute time limit built into the D90.

You get exactly the same image on the external monitor as on the LCD with HDMI.

You have to have LiveView enabled to record video so the point of an external monitor is to improve the ability to frame and focus your shots. Plus you can see what's going on the video without having to be directly behind the camera as the same height as the LCD display.

Got it.
That means the only solution is to switch off LiveView and recording from time to time and start snapping through VIewFinder.
