Can the 300 output a different resolution from what's recorded on P2 media ?

I recently shot a live event that was streamed via Ustream. For the purposes of bandwidth I shot in DVCPRO 50 ( and recorded to P2) . Ideally, it would have been nice torecord in 720P and output via SD at the same time.

Is it possible to record to P2 at a different resolution from what is being sent out via FW ?

As far as I know, the only way you can do this with any camera is to output via HD-SDI and through a down-converter.

You can set the 300 (or any of the Panasonic AG series) to record HD, and then output SD on the HDMI or HD-SDI or analog component outputs. Not the firewire. Firewire always outputs exactly what is being recorded to the memory card. But the analog and SDI and HDMI ports can do some conversion.

So: you could put a 300 in HD and record HD on its P2 cards, and simultaneously output standard-def on the SDI and record that on a NanoFlash or Samurai or something. Or you could put the three in 1080 mode and cross-convert its output to 720p and record 720p on the external recorder. The composite video output is always a standard-def signal, but of course it's composite so it's blech for recording. The SDI would output a true 10-bit standard-def 4:2:2 signal, suitable for external recording (and so would the HPX250's and AC160/AC130's and HMC150/80/40's HDMI port, although the HDMI is actoually 480p or 576p, instead of standard-def's 480i or 576i).
