I have this lens.

Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L EF ZOOM USM LENS

I have the most recent firmware for the 5D, 1.01 or something like that. It is supposed to help you control iris manually, but I can't get my iris to stop trying to close or adjust itself.

When light source hits the lens or a change in lighting happens, it adjust itself as if it is on auto iris. Is there a setting or switch that I need to click on
or off to have the iris hold the setting i want with the iris or aperture wheel ?

This is only a problem in video mode, when I move the camera around to snap a still it keep what ever f stop I set it to.

To really screw me up, I recent download Magic Lantern it is a great little firmware but as part of the on screen read out it show I'm at 5.6, all the time, lol....

Can anybody help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? :dankk2:

Do you have the dial on the top left set to "M"?

As far as I know the ML business does not work with the updated Canon firmware.

.

I've used this lens a few times, always make sure your dial is set to M. Also on a somewhat related note, make sure your shutter speed is at 1/60 (if you are in North America) unless you are going for an effect.

I'll have to double check.

I'll have to double check.

I'm almost certain it is not set to M, hopefully that is that case. I'll check it as soon as I get home tonight. I appreciate you guys responding.

You guys were right.
