i just wanted to hear what it sounds like before i buy it....

so if someone has and and can do a quick upload so i can hear how it sounds that would be great!!

thanks

I believe Robert has a clip on the Juiced Link site. As soon as Canon released the firmware upgrade allowing manual audio control, I ordered the Juiced Link 2 channel pre. Though, not with the Dn101 headphone amp attachment. Sorry.

Forgive my noobness. So the juiced link can bypass the AGC on the 7D and I can get crisp audio that lines up without using Plural Eyes?

It doesn't bypass, it emits a high pitched inaudible tone at all times thereby fooling the AGC circuit into thinking that all input is at the same volume level. This stops the AGC from activating and amplifying background roomtone during quiet moments. Beachtek have the same unit.

the beachtech unit emits a tone, the juicedlink doesnt....its broadband, and it explains all that on the website...

and the juicedlink is a way better unit....

My apologies, I was wrong Just watching their vid now. I assumed the juiced link was a competitive unit to the other beachtek which does introduce a tone.

The interesting thing is that Juicedlink does not explain anything except to cryptically write noise injection and say the phrase 'broadband'.
What does broadband mean in this context?

One possibility is that they are injecting two tones in the inaudible range that cancel eachother out in the audible range. This is just a guess BTW.

edit: I just looked at the beachtek site and they offer a new model that they didn't have 6 months ago. It lists the AGC disabler as 'enhanced'

i assume what it means is..

when you inject a tone at 18khz, the 9khz, it uses a very broad spectrum so that it can high pass or lowpass so that it doesnt affect anything below the in audible range...

I must confess that all the tone injecting, noise injecting, 'broadband' tone injecting gives me goosebumps. I like un-adulterated audio which is why I'm putting up with recording audio separately.

If one of the DSLR manufacturers suddenly wise up and release the same cam with no AGC they will do some huge sales!

there is a firmware update for the 5d mk2 which allows users to turn the agc off in the menu...

and i hear the same is on the way for the 7d...

plus the 7d is 16-bit, 48000 hz which is great, as long as you have a low noise pre-amp (like juicedlink)

when recording 16 bit, if you have flaws or noise, removing them also removes bits which lowers the bitrate...when you record at 24 bit, you can remove noise, and dither to taste and it will intern sound damn near perfect, you have more headroom for error..

however, if you record 16 bit with a nice juicedlink preamp and have great mic placement, it should be just fine...
