Hi!
Just had some shootings with my FS7 and I love her ;-)
But I can not get a LUT in my viewfinder ONLY !:crybaby:

I am in SLOG3Cine Mode - And as soon as I want to activate any LUTs it says - CAN NOT PROCEED

only when I bake it in SDI 1/Card - I can activate the LUTs.

I upgraded to firmware 1.10 and still am not successful.

I do have the Waveform ON - but even with it OFF it does not work!
Any ideas ? - I thought it should work now by 1.10 ??

Greetings from Austria !

My FS7 will do this sometimes.

I find I have to toggle LUT on in the internal/SDI1 and then I can turn LUt in VF on as well, then I turn off LUT in Int/SDI and it stays on in the VF, you can even toggle it on and off at that point.

Also change your settings for SDI HDMI to 1080. I find this helps some times as well.

The FW is buggy even with the latest update.

Let us know if you get it to work. It can be frustrating when something worked and you turn the camera off and then an hour later you have to "tickle the settings" to get it working again. I am sure Sony will fix these instabilities, I hope soon.

Hi !
Yeah Lenilenapi !!!

That Auto Lens Distortion Comp function did it for me !

Now it works !!!
Thank you so much - but now the Waveform is gone ....
but I think that is part of the game - for now

If somebody would point me to a good doc on Hi-Lo Key I would appreciate it.

Y'all take care,
Robert

I can't recall the specific doc I read, I think it was on Alister Chapman's blog; but, here's the gist of it. Since there is no LUT available in CUSTOM mode, when using an Slog 2 or 3 gamma, there are alternatives to determining the proper exposure. One method is to set the exposure whilst looking at the image in the VF. Clearly, without a LUT, the image will be washed out, so, it's difficult to really tell if the image is over/under exposed. By using the hi/lo key function, each press of the hi/lo key function button will cycle thru hi key, then lo key. In each view, the image will hilight (excuse the pun) either the low key or hi key values in the image. This gives you an idea of where the image is either being crushed or clipped.

I use the Hi-Lo key in conjunction with monitor luts for exposure in Cine EI. It lets me check to see what highlight/shadow information is being clipped by the lut but captured in the original slog3 on the card. It allows me to make the exposure choices while looking at a Rec709 image on the monitor which I find easy to judge exposure by eye.

I thought this was solved but am facing it again and can't remember where it was left. I usually don't shoot cine EI but am planning a shoot where I might shoot Slog3 Cine EI in UHD and record the UHD also to my 7Q+ using HDMI.
Mostly things things seem OK except I cannot get a LUT in the viewfinder no matter what I do in UHD , whether I turn the HDMI output on or off.
Well actually i can get the VF LUT if I turn it on for SDI and Internal recording. Also that turns it on for HDMI also. Both settings just follow the SDI/Int record setting.

Also on another front- in my test footage after recording with the 7Q I hit the shut down button on the 7Q and all my recordings were lost. What the heck?

Problem solved. Apparently the HDMI output most be set to 1080 in order t get fully functional LUT's in VF or SDI2. Not really a problem for me because I'll be on tripod and can view LUT's in my 7Q.

But what the heck happened to my files on the 7Q? That's the next mystery.

Funny this thread would return just when I got caught with the same problem - I was trying to engage monitor LUT while recording to my new Shogun Inferno with HDMI output set to UHD. You saved me a lot of head-scratching, guys; thank you!
