Can my computer handle the HVX????

Okay I need a little help and info here.

I want to buy an hvx camera, my problem is I don't know if my computer can take the editing.

Currently I have a pc - 1.51GHz and 512 mb of ram.

Because of some loophole in my motherboard or something, I also can't install premiere 2.0 so I have 1.5

My question is if I can properly edit full 1080i hd footage on my comp the way it is. I can always add more ram (im thinking of getting 2gb anyway) but adding more processing power might not work with my motherboard.

Is premiere 1.5 fully capable handling the hvx hd footage. I know i have to get cineform as well. And I'm pretty sure it works in 1.5 as well.

Again, any insight you guys can give me would be most helpful and appreciated.

With great power comes great responsibility.

Translation: Time for a new PC kiddo.

You can get one that'll cut HVX footage in Premiere (with Raylight of course) for about 500.00, if you already have a screen. But you'll probably need a new PC no matter which way ya slice it.

Craigslist.

If you stick with 720p24 you may not be to upgrade you CPU if you use Aspect HD (download the trial), although more RAM is needed. For 1080i you need a new PC. Make sure your CPU supports SSE2 instructions, if not you need a new PC for sure.

Need more ram. Funny thing is, proc and GPU is really dependant on display, streams (and streams are more storage speed, e.g. RAID), but RAM is a must, lot's of good fast storage.

I've found Vegas and AVID to be the fastest editors. DV as a codec is very easy to manage, and DVCPRO HD isn't that much harder to deal with as long as you don't expect full speed, full frame playback from your comp's specs. Avid, even though I hate it with a passion, is especially forgiving when it comes to computer specs.

Premiere, is the slowest editor I've used, but I haven't used it in a while.

(God I miss version 5,1c.... that was truely their best release!)

FCP is the best balance of speed, and functionality... namely its the most powerful and almost as fast as AVID. (not quite though:( )

I think that 1.51ghz cpu is a Pentium 3, dudes. I am probably wrong, but that was my initial guess.
