Can Mini DV without Timecode be digitized (in FCP)?

I borrowed a camera for a wedding shoot this past weekend and it wasn't until just before the ceremony that I realized it was in continuous timecode mode (not recording from 00:00 to 60:00, but from a 15 hour mark on). When I attempt to capture this tape in FCP it just waits for timecode but obviously it won't appear. Is there a way for me to digitize this tape? Appreciate any help I can get. Thank you!

Alright, just realized that with a 2 way firewire I could record my footage with timecode to another camcorder, although I have to wait a week to get a camera from someone and need to be editing this footage sooner (preferably). Anyone have any ideas or would that be about my only solution?

You should be able to change your device settings so it's not controllable.
This will just allow you to record on the fly.
You may have to disable the code break aborting as well.

Instead of logging and batch capturing just choose capture now and sort through your clips yourself

Clarification of terminology: You do not DIGITIZE you video when you capture it from the camera to PC/MAC. It is digital on the tape and you just COPY the digital video to your hard disk. There is no D/A and then A/D conversion involved, thank god. What would be the point...

Maybe this misuse of the word stems from the time analog, when analog video was digitized using a special video cards. Now we just copy the digital material, no different from copying files from one disk to another.
