Can I use this mic? (Stereo 1/8" --> two XLR channels?)

Is it feasible to use my DSLR video mic on my camcorder?

My camcorder has the usual 2 x XLR inputs, but I'm trying to use the battery-powered DSLR shotgun mic I already own instead of getting a new powered shotgun. I use Panasonic HMC150 and I'm trying to use my Azden SMX-20. Right now I am using an external recorder or the HMC150's onboard mic :(

...or any other 1.8" to XLR-male adapter

Kind of. However, you wouldn't want to use one expecting a mono 1/8" plug because the video mics are designed to feed into both channels of a stereo mic input, TRS are left, right and ground, respectively. If you plug it into a mono socket, you could be be shorting your ring to your sleeve, which is your right channel to ground. I'm not sure what kind of protection your mic has built in but it might not like driving a short circuit. Additionally, depending on the circuitry, you might find that the left and right channels are in continuity and not driven by separate preamps so you might end up shorting left to ground as well, and no signal at the camera.

So don't just use anything, make sure it's not going to short anything on your stereo TRS 1/8" connector.
