Hi,
I am new to this forum just purchased a dvx-200 shoot a lot of theatre , just wondering if i can use peaking whilst in auto focus. It would be useful for me to see what is sharp at all times
Hope someone can help
Well, Barry Green's book say us a lot about focusing. But never the less it's theory. I struggle a lot with proper focusing. If you have a planned shooting, than you can adjust your focus plane as desired. But in a very quick changing run 'n' gun situation it is not easy. Most of the time I do dancing Videos. And the very quick moving dancers hold in focus its a mess. You do not know if a dancer is in the next monent toward the cam, or away, stepping to the left or right side. All is live, so no prerecording or so possible.
Therefore for me the only way is autofocus. You are fully concentrated to follow the subject, to hold it in the middle of the frame.I have adjusted the speed. But often happens (especially in zoomed in situations to see the "working" faces) the focus jump to the wall of the dancing hall. I do it in UHD to have a little more room in post. But even ih FHD the focus problem still exist.
With the AC130/160 I do not have this prblem.
Does anybody know how to solve this? Or is the DVX200 autofocus not as good as the AG160?
Tks for any idea.
I found that compared to my HMC-150 the DVX200 was really bad for auto focus at the same venue doing the same thing - it was a fitness and dance event at the weekend. Ended up switching into MF to save the day which was a shame
@Rikki: Same experience like I have! Only difference is, I compared the autofocus to my Ac130A. It's really a shame that such an excellent Cam like the DVX200 offer such a bad autofocus...
