Hi
Does any genius out there... know if I can sync timecode between an NTSC and a PAL model HVX200 to time of day TC ? We're using both camera to film an event, recording onto MiniDV, haven't decided which format yet but probably in 30p on ntsc and 25p on the pal camera, then will edit in FCP as 25p sequence for a Pal master going to DVD, but the timecode needs to be synced for time of day..... can it be done between the different models? and if so what is the hardware connection and the proceedure for setting this?

in addition to above questions, do you think it would be better to shoot the ntsc camera in 24p DV and convert to Pal rather than shoot in 30p DV and convert to 25? I'm thinking motion might be better that way, anyone any experience using Final Cut Pro and how best to convert SD ntsc to pal SD

if we can timecode sync the Pal hvx to the Ntsc hvx in time of day time code that would be cool, otherwise we'll have to make sure both ops take a shot of a clock / timer at the start of each session

Well, no. The firewire sync system needs the cameras to be in the same recording mode, and NTSC/PAL units can't be set to the same mode.

And yes, it would be fAR better to use 24p/25p instead of 30p/25p.

You could try setting the timecode by using one remote control to set both cameras to free run at the same time; other than that, yes, the way to do it is to have each camera film the other's screen at the beginning of each shot.
