Hi everyone - I just joined a few moments ago - just purchased a DVX100A 2 days ago - and I have a question (or 2) - surprise, surprise! I have been reading the FCP forums on shooting in 24P vs 24PA but I'm still not quite sure which to use. As the project I'm working on for the grade 7 class at my daughter's school is happening now, I'd like to keep things simpler for my first big project (but also have the media for use in future projects). This leads to my questions:
1. If I shoot in 24P, edit in a 29.97 timeline and then go out to DVD (in 29.97) will I still get some (or none) of the film look I'm trying to achieve by shooting in 24P in the first place?
2. I've tried both 24P & 24PA - when capturing 24PA using the 2:3:3:2 pulldown removal and setting the sequence preset to DV NTSC 48Khz, I get the red bars in the timeline so have to render each time I do something to the clip in the timeline. Is this normal? I was hoping to be able to use the 24PA in my 29.97 timeline (and later when I needed the media in a future project have better knowledge to use it in a 24P timeline).
Sorry for the wordy questions. This is all very exciting.
Cheers and thanks.
David
