Hey,
I hope this doesn't sound like too much of a 'noob' question, but I literally got my GH2 today Whoo-hoo!) and for the life of me I can't figure out how to shut off the function that punches in for critical focus every time I touch the ring to focus. (I don't do auto)
Yeah, I know it can be helpful, but I really don't want to always punch in like that, it's annoying. Sometimes I'm more concerned about just framing in the moment and getting my picture. (for stills at least).
Please tell me there's a way to disable it, someone. Thanks.

You can with the GH1, so I reckon it's pretty safe to assume you can with the GH2 as well. Try looking for 'manual focus assist' or similar in the manual

rigs, ya beat me

Good info for a new user setting up a GH2 or GH1. MF assist is addressed in GH1 section but the only stuff in GH2 section is stuff that's new or different.
