Can I move my FCP application from one mac to another?

Install FCP 6 using your original install discs.

However, I've read that there are issuing trying to run FCP 6 in Lion, so make certain that you have the option to using SL in the new Mac.

Every good explanation of the process will tell you to install from the discs. This is the best option. That being said I've used Migration Assistant to transfer just applications at least 5 times and it worked fine for me. In fact I did it 3 days ago when I got my new SSD drive.

FCP6 will not run on a new MacBook- they all come preinstalled with Lion. You would need to either- purchase Snow Leopard, purchase FCP7 or purchase FCPX.

Be aware that drivers for very new hardware might not be included in a copy of Snow Leopard. I'm not certain but this is definitely something you'll want to look into before deciding that's the route you want to take. Maybe look into refurbished Macbooks released before Lion? I've had excellent experiences with refurb gear off Apple.com.

Yup- I would go the FCP7 or X route- 6 is definitely not the way to go right now.
