Can I hot swap P2 card in HVX200?

I'm stuck with 2 8gig cards for an upcoming shoot and I'm wondering, since I'll be recording non-stop for more than 2 hours, once the camera switches from slot 1 to slot 2, can I eject the card in slot 1, copy the files to my laptop, and then reinsert it into slot 1 all the while slot 2 is being recorded to. Then once slot 2 is full will it switch automatically back to slot 1?
As I typed that I'm guessing there's the issue of formatting the card and also the issue of a clip spanning from 1 card to another card?

That's the idea. There are utilities for your desktop to format the card and, while its not the recommended way of doing it based on what I read in the forums, its an option. My recommendation is TEST IT OUT BEFORE YOUR SHOOT. I can't stress that enough. Make sure the workflow works for you and your shoot.

you're asking for trouble. you can rent 2, 32 gig cards for $100 and save yourself a ton of worry and hassle.

not to mention, you're probably going to jostle the camera slightly when you pull and replace the cards. and youd probably see it in your shot

Unfortunately the notice was so short and none of the rental places around here are open on the weekend. It's a 3 camera shoot so not worried about bumping camera for a few seconds, just wish I could chop 1 of the 2 32 gig cards I have for the other two cameras in half. The two 8 gig cards in the camera in question just won't be enough to do the job.

Is it possible to roll tape and record to P2 at the same time?
nope.

my suggestion is to just fill one card at a time. pop out and reformat. if you have two other cameras covering. you will most likely have coverage...
