Can I get rid of this distortion in the background?

Looks like the old morie effect. There was a screen that acted as an ND of sorts but unfortunately it wreaked havoc as well. You can see where the screen ends and the field is clear in the background. Any tricks to deal with this? We shot this in standard 60i mode on the DVX.
Thanks.

There is a way that got me acceptable results, by adding a post white diffusion filter. Basically I duplicated your layer and applyed a luma key on the top layer keying out the darker parts. Then I applied to the top layer a blur filter. It got the moire away, but it induced a slight glow on the whiter parts of the image. I don't know how that looks in motion. Maybe you should give it a try.

Worked brilliantly. Can't thank you enough. It avoided a potentially embarrassing situation. I actually didn't need the white diffusion, although I did try it. It gave it a little too much glow. But by putting the luma key and blur on that duplicated layer it got rid of the moire and actually adds a soft look to the background that I like. I might tweak it a little further to get it just right, but already it looks a lot better to me.

Thanks,
Steve

I actually can bring this into After Effects when I'm done editing. Is it a standard filter that comes with the production bundle or is this a third party filter? I'll poke around and see if I can find it.

Thanks,
Steve
