GH4 Can I Edit 4K With My Retina?

I want to upgrade from my GH3 to the GH4 but I am not sure if I have enough computer power to edit 4K in Final Cut Pro X. Also, does it make a difference if I am editing the 4K in a 1080 timeline as to how powerful a commuter I am using? I have the 2.7GHz, Intel Core i& and 16GB Ram, Retina Macbook Pro.

Thanks for any feedback you can give me!

You should be just fine. I have a slower retina and it works fine. I also have the nee Mac Pro and it works really fine.

Thanks Sarantis. Are you editing with actual media or proxy? What 4K settings are you shooting with on the GH4? Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm editing on a i7 Retina (15") - and find it super quick.

Also editing while traveling on a standard Air (i5, 4GB) - which to be honest handles basic editing just fine - enough for then transferring to the Retina for the more intensive filters / grading.

Some of us are keeping our powder dry as far as 4K is concerned until we can find an affordable edit solution, for me that means a new MacBook Pro. If your editing UHD from the GH4 on a new i7 MacBook Pro, whats the rest of your set-up and is there a consensus on the best UHD monitor.

I'm editing native REDCODE raw 5K footage on a MBPr with no problems. Sometimes I edit on a 1080 timeline, and I get 1/2 res playback no probs. Or on a 5K timeline and 1/8 res smooth playback. However round tripping to AE is a slightly different story, here I need to start rendering out the timeline

I'm reading some good comments about the Asus 4K UHD 28" Monitor, is this a good choice for the new i7 MacBook Pro and can you play back UHD edited material without grading and special effects at full resolution?[h=1][/h]
