Can Hvx Link A Mac To A Tv?

On DV firewire cameras you can plug the firewire into your Mac and see the Final Cut Pro viewer footage on the tv using the camera as a decoder... but this won't work with my HVX and there is nothing in the manual about it. Does anyone know if there is a way to do this? If not, is there an inexpensive box that lets a Mac output to a tv (the old ones won't work with DVCPROHD).

Yes that will work, to a degree. You have to put the camera in MCR mode and have it in the same recording mode as your timeline, and turn the thumbnails off.

And, it won't output HD to the TV from a firewire input. You can output S-video or composite but not HD.

WOW...I didn't know I could do that. I thought all the outputs were disabled in firewire in mode. This will be enough for color correction no? I have a CRT production monitor. I'm looking at some HD footage going from FCP to the camera and SVIDEO to the monitor...LOOKS STUNNING! Is this ok for downconversion?
