Can GH1 firmware 1.34 be hacked via service mode?

thanks

(really appreciate any up to date info...i've spent hours googling)

I wish it did. The last production batch is pretty good. I'm still hoping it will get hacked... one day. Is that wishful thinking? Is 1.34 firmware encrypted, too?

Yes, it's encrypted.

are there any current attempts to de-crypt; or has the drive to make the 1.34 hackable pretty well dead?

there's still LOTS of gh1 owners out there that would love to have the vid quality of the hacked versions...

thanks

I don't know, but if anyone is attempting to decrypt anything, I'd be surprised if they were working on the GH1 now that we have the GH2.

I have read this elsewhere on this forum as well but has anyone confirmed 1.34 is encrypted? Might it simply be a case of Panasonic not making a newer firmware available?

just curious...

I don't think it is encrypted. Panasonic changed something in the loader so it does not recognize the old firmaware with higher version numbers.
As soon as the 1.34 firmware is available for download it will be hacked, I am sure.
So fara Panasonic has not made it available.

25mm 1.4 is rumored to be announced around this April. New firmware for GH1? But my hope is little as there is good chance to be encrypted.

I doubt Panasonic has much motivation to keep the GH1 updated now that it's out of production. They haven't yet seen a need to update it or the GF1 to match the G2's full support for auto-focus on their current Four Thirds lenses, such as the Panasonic/Leica 14-50mm f2.8-3.5. I wouldn't be surprised if Panasonic abandoned their entire non-Micro Four Thirds line and focused their marketing on the GF2.
