Can FCS be moved to an external drive?

I'm having a lot of issues with the Adobe collection ... so much so that I want to wipe my computer of everything and start fresh. The big issue for me is that I don't want to sit here all day reinstalling FCStudio. It takes SO LONG (I think it was like 8 hours last time). Can I just copy FCP, Compressor, DVDSP, et al to an external drive then wipe my master drive, then drag them back once it's clear? I'm assuming, no, but I wanted to check.

I've heard of it being possible but I don't know for sure. You may have to clone your hard drive or something

Back in the dark ages of computing we used to start these types of things right before bedtime. 8 hours passes quickly while you are sleeping.

Why does it take so long for you to reinstall everything? I did a fresh install and data transfer in like...4 hours and that included CS5, FCS, and other random applications like browsers and media players.

Because its fcs, then the update of fcs2. With all of the disks used (9?), it takes forever and you have to baby sit it.

I made disc images of all the install DVDs and loaded them onto a USB. It takes me less then 2 hours to install FCP and cs5.5 on the OS drive.

You don't have to install FCS before installing FCS2. You can just install FCS2, but you have to enter both your FCS and FCS2 serial numbers.

Or replace your system drive with say a new 2TB and partition it into a couple of system drives- though even this should not be necessary.

Thanks for the advice guys. I did a wipe / clean install. It wasn't the route I wanted to take, but had to travel.
