Can any HVX HD Recording Format go to Firestore or can some not?

[redman]

I'm planning on shooting 720p/24PN (which I've shot plenty of times to P2 cards). Will I be able to shoot this format to a Firestore drive? Are there record formats that you can't shoot to a Firestore drive?

You can, but not without some preparation. You have to make sure the firestore is running firmware 3.0 or later, and then you have to put the FireStore in PN mode, and then you have to make sure you put the camera NOT in pN mode. It has to be in 720/24p mode.

So then the firestore only takes the relevant frames, ignoring the duplicates from the pull down?

Yes, if you have the menus configured correctly.

Nice.

I feel like after years of shooting on the DVX, and now only days with my own HVX (although quite a few shoots with rentals), I am finally getting the hang of the HD/P2 workflow.
